JANUARY AT ALTOPIANO DEL SOLE

2026 opens under the sign of winter magic on the Plateau of the Sun: January is the perfect month to experience the mountains, with skiing, traditions, music, family-friendly events and unmissable highlights.
The Christmas holidays extend into the first days of the new year until Epiphany, continuing to offer a charming and atmospheric setting. For sports lovers, the ski season continues at the Borno Ski Area Monte Altissimo, and the evenings dedicated to ski mountaineering return as well: starting from Tuesday, January 13, every Tuesday and Thursday, when the lifts are closed, it is possible to climb the Ogne and Pian d’Aprile slopes to reach the Monte Altissimo mountain hut, which will be open for dinner on these occasions.
The rules are available on www.bornoskiarea.it, while for updates on the events and weather conditions we invite you to follow the social media channels.

Let’s discover together all the must-see events and activities in January 2026 at Altopiano del Sole.

FESTIVITIES AND TRADITIONS

Until January 18, the exhibition of the mechanical nativity scene created by the artist G. Vanoli continues at the small church of San Fiorino: a unique work that tells the story of the Nativity with great attention to detail.
At the Sanctuary of the Annunciata, visitors can enjoy the ‘”Nasce la Speranza” Nativity Scene exhibition and competition until January 4, 2026 (the awards day), and take the opportunity to also visit the permanent nativity scene housed inside the convent.

The exhibition of the largest Lemax Christmas Village in Europe also continues on Via Nazionale in Piamborno, open every day from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.

On Sunday, January 4 at 4:00 pm, the narrated Living Nativity Scene returns in Lozio, told by St. Anne and the Three Wise Men: a nativity scene that differs from traditional representations, as it focuses on the Epiphany rather than the Nativity. Each year it changes location, rotating among all four villages of the Lozio Valley. Its distinctive feature? The monologues and dialogues are designed not only to recount the sacred story, but also to highlight the unique characteristics of the people of Lozio and its hamlets.

MUSIC AND LIVE SHOWS

On Saturday, January 3 at 9:30 pm, in Piazza di Borno, get ready to dance to the theme songs of our childhood with Cartoon Story: a musical show dedicated to the most beloved cartoon theme songs of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, offering a nostalgic and engaging journey for the whole family.

On Sunday, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, again in the main square, there will be a Tribute to Cristina D’Avena, for an afternoon of music and fun dedicated to children.

The traditional Christmas Concert by the group Borno d’in…canto is scheduled for Saturday, January 3 at 9:00 pm, inside the parish church of Borno.

On Monday, January 5 at 8:30 pm, the concert by the choir Il Tesoretto di Braone will take place inside the Parish Church of Piamborno, and on Tuesday, January 6 at 3:00 pm, don’t miss the Procession of the Three Wise Men, gathering at the Parish Church of Cogno.

On Saturday, January 10 at 8:30 pm, the Oratory Theatre of Piamborno will host the screening of the film “Per nome Ardesio – Il bambino di nome Ardesio”.

On Sunday, January 18 at 3:00 pm, the Vintage Party returns at Barissimo: an afternoon of retro-flavoured music and fun, perfect for dancing and spending time together.

At the Borno Ski Area, on Sunday, January 4, the Befana Torchlight Parade takes place: at dusk, ski instructors and children from the Snow Borno Ski School will ski down the slopes carrying LED torches, creating a magical and emotionally moving moment.

On Tuesday, January 6, in Piazza di Borno, everyone will be waiting for the Befana during an afternoon of children’s entertainment, baby dance, music, face painting and a spectacular soap bubble show.
