BORNO
BORNO Borno is a typical mountain village, located in the middle of Valle Camonica, on an altopiano at 912 metres. The town is located between Valle Camonica and Val di Scalve, in the province of Bergamo.
The village is surrounded by green fields and thick woods, valleys and imposing mountains, in a natural environment of extraordinary and unusual beauty. The mountains that surround Borno are known to mountaineers who, already in the past, explored their slopes, to hikers who love to do sport surrounded by nature, and also to families who appreciate the quiet and splendor of the valley.

BORNO AND WATER
The Trobiolo and San Fiorino streams cross the town, making Borno a real oasis of peace and tranquility. At lower altitudes, the altopiano is characterized by a balance between agricultural, forestry and pastoral elements. This is why Borno was chosen as the ideal place to live by its inhabitants, and by the many tourists who crowd to the town’s streets every year.
Starting from the main square, overlooked by ancient houses with stone portals and dominated by the marvelous 17th century octagonal fountain, the roads branch off and lead out of the town to reach the most important naturalistic places of Borno: from the Giovetto Natural Reserve to Lake Lova.

A TIMELESS VILLAGE
Wandering through the town you will notice suggestive glimpses: the medieval towers, the fountains inside the ancient courtyards, the narrow paved alleys and the several churches, demonstrating the deep bond that Borno still has today with the past and its traditions. Walking through the alleys, you get the impression that time has stopped.
The town church of Saints John the Baptist and Martin, started in 1771, is of considerable importance. It is located in the picturesque Piazza Giovanni Paolo II, named after the Pope’s visit in 1998, center of the social, political, religious and cultural life of Borno.
