Villa Guidetti – Museum of Historical Valle Camonica Photography

per person

The Museum of Photography, set up inside Villa Guidetti in Borno, was inaugurated in June 2019 and is the expression of a series of initiatives for the acquisition, preservation and reorganisation of the photographic heritage made available by numerous enthusiasts in the area.

In a valley that identifies itself as the Valle dei Segni (Valley of Signs), a fundamental piece was missing to ensure that facts, faces and stories from the past are remembered. It often happens that an irremediable rift is created between past memories and the traces of the present, but photography cannot lie. Through historical photography one discovers details that, when put together, help make sense of present times.

The Association that set up the Valle Camonica Museum of Historical Photography was created to collect part of the photographic material that professionals and enthusiasts produced up to the mid-1900s.
The Museum enhances its photographic heritage with an exhibition dedicated to the world of photography and is divided into several sections, in the evocative location of Villa Guidetti.

The exhibition allows visitors to get to know a time when life flowed according to the rhythms dictated by humankind; for generations no longer young to relive moments and emotions fixed in images and belonging to their own past.

Museums fulfil an important function in the process of recalling and reactivating memory, as a stimulus to investigate and understand both the past and the present. But above all, they succeed in rendering and transforming cultural heritage into a living legacy. We take it upon ourselves to be “keepers of memories”, also creating insights for future research and investigation.
