Church of Sant’Anna

per person

On the right-hand side of the Borno-Dezzo road, right at the entrance to the tiny hamlet of Paline, part of Borno, a small 17th-century sanctuary stands on a natural promontory. In ancient times, it was consecrated to the Holy Trinity, while today the church honours the figure of St Anne, patron saint of the hamlet.

The architectural layout, as we have already mentioned, dates back to the 17th century; the very simple façades have no pilasters or cornices. The entrance portal of the Church of St Anne is architraved and the windows have plain cornices. The interior, consisting of two bays, has pilasters dividing the nave from the choir. The vault is decorated with recently painted frescoes depicting St. Anne with the Child Mary, the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple and the Trinity with the Dove. There are reports of restoration work carried out in the years 1939 and 1957.
