OCTOBER ON ALTOPIANO DEL SOLE

Welcome, October!

Autumn brings with it the charm of mountain colors, flavors, and traditions. The Altopiano del Sole is dressed in warm golden shades, inviting visitors to walk through the woods and enjoy the beauty of the
foliage.

With the first falling leaves come the chestnut burrs — the stars of autumn festivals and tables — which can be gathered in various areas of the Altopiano del Sole, such as the Pat area (Ossimo) and around Lake Moro.

THE MAZZOTTI CUP ON THE ALTOPIANO DEL SOLE

This year, on the first Sunday of the month, the Altopiano del Sole will host the
Coppa Franco Mazzotti
, the historic regularity race for vintage cars organized by the Club Mille Miglia in collaboration with the Automobile Club Brescia — the third largest classic car race in Italy by number of participants.
On Sunday, October 5th at 8:00 AM, the vintage cars will set off from Darfo Boario Terme for the second leg of the route, parading along the roads of the Altopiano through the towns of Malegno, Lozio, Ossimo, Borno, and Angolo Terme before returning to Boario.
A special opportunity to admire up close authentic gems of automotive history and experience the unique atmosphere of the event.

OCTOBER IN ANGOLO TERME

The
Slow & Good
event, the food and wine walk along the shores of Lake Moro, returns for its eighth edition on Sunday, October 5th.

The route, about 7 km long, combines nature, flavor, and conviviality. Along the walk, participants will find several tasting stops offering local delicacies — cheeses, cured meats, traditional specialties, and sweets — all surrounded by the characteristic autumn landscapes of the Lake Moro area.

OCTOBER IN BORNO

One of the most anticipated autumn events on the Altopiano del Sole is
Haeretica
, the festival that brings back the dark and mysterious atmosphere of the Middle Ages.
On Saturday, October 25th, starting at 2:30 PM, Borno’s historic center will turn into a large open-air stage with roaming performances by jesters and acrobats, falconry shows, and historical reenactments.
At sunset, the village will plunge into the darkness of the Middle Ages: the square, lit by torches and fires, will host themed concerts and performances, while the streets will come alive with the return of the Krampus from Pozza di Fassa, demonic figures from Alpine folklore.
Throughout the day there will also be medieval markets, themed food, and drinks.

On Sunday, October 26th at 10:00 AM, Haeretica continues with a guided tour of Borno’s mysteries led by Professor Francesco Inversini.

For roasted chestnut lovers, don’t miss the Castagnata in the Parish Hall on Sunday, October 12th — an afternoon of chestnuts, games, bingo, and the opening of the Jubilee Week with the friars of the Annunciata.

OCTOBER IN MALEGNO

On Sunday, October 26th, don’t miss the traditional Mondolata in the Pedena area.

Games, face painting, and snacks featuring roasted chestnuts will be the highlights of this cheerful autumn celebration.

Those who wish can reach Pedena on foot by joining the group walk departing at 1:45 PM from Piazza Zaccaria Casari.

OCTOBER IN LOZIO

On October 5th, the Lozio Valley will host a cultural and
nature excursion
organized by the Culture and TAM Commissions of Bergamo and Brescia.
The 13 km circular route follows the Hurtie – Water Trail, leading participants through some of the most iconic places in the area.

The event will also be an opportunity to meet the representatives of the Villaggio degli Alpinisti – Valle di Lozio project, to learn more about the values and activities that promote sustainable mountain living and community engagement.

For experienced trekkers, on Sunday, October 5th there will also be a high-altitude hike to
Pizzo Camino
organized by GEL Lozio.

On October 19th, the classic

Bicicastagno

event returns, organized by the Amici della Natura group of Lozio — open to everyone, on bike or on foot. The itinerary starts from Casa Arcobaleno, with a snack midway, a convivial lunch on return, and in the afternoon, music and roasted chestnuts for all.

Music lovers shouldn’t miss the

Voci dalla Concarena

choral festival on Saturday, October 25th in the Church of SS. Nazzaro e Celso, featuring the Musicanti di Lozio, Coro ANA Val di Scalve, and Corale Santa Cecilia, followed by a refreshment.

OCTOBER IN OSSIMO

On Sunday, October 12th, Ossimo Inferiore will host the
commemoration of the Alpini
who have “gone ahead,” marking the 20th anniversary of the monument dedicated to them. The program includes a parade with the local band and a community lunch.

On October 18th, Ossimo Superiore welcomes the much-awaited
cross-border festival Lo Pan Ner
, celebrating rye bread and the traditional knowledge and flavors passed down through generations. Lo Pan Ner is an event that honors Alpine traditions, rituals, and tastes, bringing back ancient recipes and the communal spirit of old.
