Do you already know what to do in March?

DISCOVER MARCH ON THE ALTOPIANO DEL SOLE

The month of March has only just begun and we are already thinking about how best to spend it on the Altopiano del Sole.

March is a month of transition: winter is preparing to pass the baton to spring and nature is slowly beginning to awaken from its long hibernation. With the first, shy, flower buds peeping out and the warmth of the sun becoming more persistent, March offers a unique atmosphere, perfect for exploring the Altopiano’s many treks, breathtaking views and immersing yourself in history and local attractions.

In this article, we suggest some ideas and things to do in March on the Altopiano del Sole.

SORLINE PATH – ANGOLO TERME

A particularly suggestive and accesible itinerary to spend an afternoon in March among the wonders of the Altopiano del Sole is the Sorline Path (Sentiero delle Sorline).

Starting from the historic centre of Angolo Terme, one proceeds towards the Sanctuary of S. Silvestro, a small church that nevertheless offers a beautiful view of the village of Angolo and its hamlets. After crossing a wide bend, take the cemented path that enters the wood.

The route is well signposted with signs pointing in the direction of Lake Moro, a natural pearl hidden in the hills of Angolo Terme.

After about 30 minutes of walking, you reach an esplanade with a view of the Sorline and lakes Moro and Iseo, after which you descend via a wooden footbridge, passing farmsteads and terracing, until you reach the main road, which can also be travelled by car from Angolo Terme.

Taking this stretch, which becomes reserved for pedestrians and bicycles as you descend, you can admire breathtaking views of the lake and the characteristic farmsteads along the way. A diversion to the right leads to the picturesque harbour, while continuing on to the charming village of Capo di Lago.

The total duration of the route is approximately one hour.

MARCH ON THE SNOW

Are you thinking of ending the winter season on a high note by spending a few days in March on the snow? The Altopiano del Sole is an excellent choice, where it is possible to combine a passion for sport with a love of history, nature and the traditions of an area waiting to be discovered.

After the snowfalls of the last period, the advice is to take advantage of these first weeks of March to treat yourself to a weekend on skis or snow-board on the Borno Ski Area tracks, to go up the ski slopes at dawn (or at sunset, during the Tuesday and Thursday evenings dedicated to skialpers) or to venture out on a snowshoe hike/walk with crampons among the many routes immersed in nature.

A VISIT TO OSSIMO SUPERIORE AND THE WAYFARER’S BOOKSHOP

In March the days are getting longer and longer, so why not take advantage of the sunny hours for a stroll through the narrow streets of Ossimo Superiore and a stop at the Wayfarer’s bookshop (Libreria del Viandante) before nightfall?

Along Via Borno-Lozio, a characteristic wooden structure has been installed where you can stop to pick up a book, sit down and read a few pages, or exchange a few words with other passers-by and locals.

A pleasant way to discover the history of the area and its traditions, meeting those who live it and wish to share their stories and memories.
