Do you already know what to do in January?

LET’S START THE NEW YEAR TOGETHER

Happy New Year!

The year 2024 has officially begun and on the Altopiano del Sole a new chapter is opening, all to be written.

In 2023 there have been many novelties: the nomination of Lozio as the first Mountaineers’ village in Lombardy, the approval of the project for the Malegno-Borno cycle-pedestrian path, the construction of the new dry-tooling crag in Croce di Salven, the installation of the 1522 bus shelter in Malegno, but also the organisation of many sporting, food and wine, cultural and entertainment initiatives.

From the most traditional events, to the many recently added appointments, the Altopiano del Sole calendar offers numerous opportunities to experience and discover the area at 360 degrees, thanks to the collaboration of municipalities, Pro-Loco, local authorities, groups and associations of various kinds.

Work that also for 2024 already has many novelties in store.

JANUARY ON THE ALTOPIANO

January on the Altopiano del Sole offers various activities to usher in the year 2024 in the best possible way.

From the ski area where you can have fun in the snow, to open-air treks, to the skating rink in Borno open every day – until 14 January – to the many bike trails, there is no shortage of opportunities to spend your New Year’s Day amidst the wonders of the area.

January will also see the return of the ski alper evenings, which allow you to ski up the Borno Ski Area slopes to the Monte Altissimo refuge at sunset. More information and updates will be communicated through the Borno Ski Area social channels.

THE FESTIVITIES CONTINUE

While for some Christmas is now just a memory, for others the festivities continue into the first week of January.

The little ones are home from school and what better occasion to have fun together than participating in dedicated activities? On Thursday 4 January in Ossimo Inferiore and Friday 5 January in Borno there is the creative workshop “Calza della Befana” (Epiphany stocking), open to all children.

On Wednesday 3 January in Ossimo Superiore you can attend the Christmas concert of the “A.Vivaldi di Valle Camonica” orchestra, while on Saturday 6 January there will be a live nativity scene in Laveno, animated by the “I Musicanti” association of Lozio. Also on Saturday, 6 January, the ‘Hopeful Christmas’ concert is scheduled in the parish church of Borno.

Closing the festive calendar is the “Doni di Natale” prize draw in Piancogno on Monday 8 January, followed by the presentation of the book “La Ballata delle Zanne” by G.Bigatti at the Cogno Municipal Library.

JANUARY’S EVENTS ON THE ALTOPIANO DEL SOLE

On Friday, 5 January, the Alpini Group of Borno organises the Festa del Norcino, to celebrate the trades of yesteryear and taste the products of meat processing.

Wednesday 24 January sees the return of the Monte Altissimo Vertical Race, in its competitive version SKIALP and crampon race, and also as a non-competitive rally open to all. Completing the new edition are two events dedicated to children and young people: the Kids Snow Run – a running race in the snow – and the Kids Skialp, for children aged 11 to 14.
