DISCOVER FEBRUARY’S EVENTS ON THE ALTOPIANO DEL SOLE

Welcome February!

The month dedicated to lovers, but also to Carnival and snow days.

For those who wish to spend a special Valentine’s Day, the Altopiano del Sole offers numerous attractions and vantage points perfect for a romantic outing, which you can read about in one of the previous articles in our magazine.

Carnival is also a popular festivity, with parades of floats, masks and an atmosphere created especially for the enjoyment of young and old.

But what else can we do on the Altopiano del Sole in February?

1. MALEGNO – PRESENTATION OF THE BOOK “DI PIETRA E FURORE. LIFE AND ART OF ANDREA MANTEGNA” – 4th FEBRUARY

The presentation of the book “Di Pietra e furore. Life and Art of Andrea Mantegna”, at the Malegno Library.

In her work, the author Francesca Diotallevi weaves the human and artistic story of a man as hard as stone, full of fury, yet capable of enchanting and deeply moving with his art.

During the evening there will be a dialogue with the author followed by a buffet for all participants.

2. LOZIO – SKI MOUNTAINEERING MEETING – 5th FEBRUARY

On Sunday 5th February, the Lozio Valley will host the 4th ski mountaineering meeting, for all ski tourers wishing to venture into the wonders of an unspoilt valley.

The itinerary includes an elevation gain of 1200 metres, starting at Ponte del Ferro (sawmill Villa di Lozio) followed by lunch at the Asilo di Villa di Lozio.

Participants must bring their own Artva-shovel-probe kit and enrol by Thursday 2 February.

3. PIANCOGNO (VAL SORDA) – WALKING WITH THE MOON – 11 FEBRUARY

Saturday 11th February sees the return of “Passeggiando con la Luna” (Walking with the Moon), the non-competitive nighttime snowshoe hike in the silence of Val Sorda.

An event now in its 16th edition, with a choice of two different itineraries, one EXPERTS (approx. 9 km and 400 m of altitude difference) and one FAMILY (approx. 7 km). A

A refreshment point will be set up along the route and at the end of the walk, for those who wish, it will be possible to dine in company at the Colonia di Croce di Salven (Borno).

The Colonia is also the meeting point for all participants, who after collecting their gadgets and bibs will venture off in the direction of Val Sorda, a truly magical destination, especially at night.

4. BORNO – CARNIVAL PARTY – 12 FEBRUARY

On Sunday 12 February, Carnival is celebrated on the Altopiano del Sole.

The start of the parade is scheduled at 2.30 p.m. from Piazzale della Dassa in Borno, amid floats, masks and costumes worn especially to celebrate this occasion.

During the afternoon, prizes will be awarded to the most beautiful mask and masked group, followed by a snack for everyone.
