Do you already know what to do in September?

DISCOVER SEPTEMBER EVENTS ON THE ALTOPIANO DEL SOLE

September brings with it the end of the summer season, schools opening again, the beginning of autumn and the transformation of nature as it prepares to explode in a blaze of wonderful colours and shades.

Sunny days still provide long daylight hours and mild temperatures, perfect for discovering the beauty of the mountains and indulging in one of the most popular pastimes on the Altopiano del Sole, namely mushroom picking.

For food and wine enthusiasts, it is time for vineyard visits and wine cellar tastings, which can be found in the foothills of Piancogno, where some of the valley’s excellent wines come from.

But what else can we do in September on the Altopiano del Sole?

Let’s find out together in this new in-depth article!

1. OSSIMO – CHARITY PARTY FOR “OLTRECASA” ASSOCIATION – SATURDAY 3rd SEPTEMBER

The first event we want to tell you about is the charity party organised on Saturday 3rd September at the Ossimo Inferiore party area. The proceeds of the evening will be donated to the association “Oltrecasa”: based in Borno, with civic, solidarity and socially useful aims for people with disabilities and fragility and their families. The programme includes a spit-based dinner and a lottery draw with exciting prizes, followed by musical entertainment by two different groups, on the notes of songs by Lucio Battisti and Luciano Ligabue. An event that combines fun and solidarity, to contribute concretely and support the ‘Oltrecasa’ project.

2. MALEGNO – DE GUSTIBUS – SATURDAY 3rd SEPTEMBER

On Saturday 3rd September the village of Malegno will host “De Gustibus”, the event dedicated to craft beer.

During the event you will find stands of the Valle Camonica Craft Breweries in the streets of the old town centre and can taste the different varieties they produce. But that’s not all: local farms with homegrown products, food & drink areas, DJ sets and children’s entertainment will also be protagonists of the evening, for the enjoyment of young and old.

A unique opportunity to taste authentic valley flavours and to discover the projects involved in hop cultivation and beer production, which is increasingly becoming an excellence of the Valle Camonica.

3. LOZIO – EXCURSION TO THE CORINI BIVOUAC – SUNDAY 11th SEPTEMBER

The Gruppo Escursionistico di Lozio is organising an excursion to the Corini bivouac, dedicated to Don Giulio Corini, ‘the mountain priest’, on Sunday 11th September.

The refuge is located at the Valzellazzo Pass, between Val Camonica and Val di Scalve, in the Cimon della Bagozza group. The itinerary to reach the bivouac is recommended for hikers of medium-high level, considering the presence of passages on rock with wet soil and exposed equipped sections.

The duration of the excursion will be about 3 ½ hours (one way), starting at 7.00 a.m. from the “del Re” car park in Villa di Lozio. If you love hiking in the mountains, don’t miss this opportunity to spend a day in the company of others discovering the high-altitude beauty of the Altopiano del Sole.

4. BORNO – TRANSHUMANCE FESTIVAL – 24th and 25th SEPTEMBER

On Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th September, the Transhumance Festival returns to Borno, an event that celebrates the descent of cattle from the mountain pastures to the cowsheds in anticipation of the arrival of the colder months.

During the weekend, animals returning from alpine pastures will parade through the streets of the old town, accompanied by their owners, who can be found with their typical products at the stalls set up in the skating rink area. Local restaurants and inns will prepare special menus for the occasion, and good music will enliven the event. It starts on Saturday at 9 p.m. with a concert by ‘Il Bepi & THE PRISMAS’, while on Sunday at 3 p.m. the group ‘Le Mondine’ will perform.
